Today i'll talk to y'all about my island, Martinique. This island is in the Caribbean (Caribbean Map in my previous article) The Official language spoken there is French, but we have a local language which is Creole. The Capital is Fort-de-France. It has 400 000 inhabitants
About our culture, other that creole, our language, we have local food as BreadFruit, "Dachine" we can translate this word as Chinese Cabbage, which is confusing.
Dachine is a vegetable common to Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana and Reunion.
We also have yam, Giraumon, Manioc and the most known one, Banana. etc.... Moreover, concerning food, we have a typical meal, in creole "Tinin lanmori" in English : plantain banana with cod , most of the time we add avocados. We also have Breadfruit and Fish, and Colombo (Curry and Chicken)

Now let's talk about Music. The main musics there are : bèlè (pronunciation : bailai) but also biguine, mazurka , Zouk and Kompa , with famous artists as the group Kassav, former group Zouk Machine, Edith Lefel, Francky Vincent etc...
We will end up with Literature and Sports. About Literature we have several literary movements as one entitled Négritude with the famous author Aimé Césaire with his book In French Cahier d'un retour au pays natal in English Notebook on Return to My Native Land Or Créolité with Patrick Chamoiseau, Raphaël Confiant.

Concerning Sports, i'll tell you that each year we have an event unique in the world named Tour des Yoles Rondes. It lasts a week during summer (between the last days of July and the first days of August) It's the most important event in Martinique. It attracts lots of people and is followed on every media in Martinique (Channels, Radios). This event exists since 1984.
